Operation summer chores is off to a good start! The boys swap chores each week. This week it is Morgan's job to take out the trash. That includes empty pop tart boxes, milk jugs and other stuff that we put beside the trash can, as to not take up too much room in the can itself. Those things, go out to the "big" trash can when ever we go out. The goal is for them to take stuff out with out being asked. I realize that in the beginning they will need to be reminded.
Jack's job was to load and unload the dishwasher. This takes a little more direction. It will be his job to notice that there are dishes in the sink that need to be loaded. Once again I realize they will need reminding. He did a real good job but, he asked after every task "Am I done yet?"
Through these chores I want them to realize how much work goes into keeping our house clean and that these things don't just magically get done. Also I don't want their wives saying "His mom did everything for him and he dosen't know how to do anything." Instead of letting them load the dishwasher how ever they see fit. I am showing them when you stack all the plates together without leaving space, the plates don't get clean.(along with other things)
oh girl, you took some really good chores for them to do. i am still not comfortable with the girls doing dishes b/c i am afraid they will break something. i should at least let them try i guess. how do you handle them putting up the high stuff? blaine has been emptying the trash in each bathroom into the big trash and phoebe has been feeding the boys and they split feeding Haylie. they get a quarter for doing those things, but like keeping their room clean and putting their dirty clothes in the hamper we have considered things they do as part of obeying and they are expected to those without pay. i do give them a quarter when i have clothes to fold and they put them up. i still have not given up letting thewm fold their own clothes. i notice how stubborn i am about things the older they get.
